Nagarkot Skill Session is an event for every rider who at least have basic cycle riding skill.  In this camp you will learn about MTB (Mountain biking) trail riding Tips and technics from our international instructors from PMBIA (professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association). In this session  we will spend the day learning line choices, cornering, braking, technical decent, body positioning & More. 

Why is Nagarkot an up and coming mountain biking destination in the country right now? Because the cycling community and the local community take mountain biking seriously. The result, a Asian Enduro series trails to match any level of experience including some of the most fun featured trails in the Kathmandu.

  1. POSITION AND BALANCE – STABILITY, CENTER OF MASS, BALANCE & RANGE OF MOVEMENT
  2. OPERATION OF CONTROL
    • GEARS – EFFICIENCY, CADENCE, SHIFTING TECHNIQUE,  PEDALING TECHNIQUE
    • BRAKES – SPEED CONTROL, RATIO OF BRAKING, SELECTIVE BRAKING
  3. TERRAIN AWARENESS – TRAIL SCANNING, DECISION MAKING, SMOOTH, DIRECT, EFFICIENT
  4. DIRECTION AND CONTROL – CONTROLLING DIRECTION, ROTATION, LEANING, STEERING, OFF-CAMBER & CORNERING

This is a “Trail based” session that is focused on improving your bike handeling & trail riding techniquesIt helps a lot when you apply learned techniques in trails or in offroad preventing you from getting nasty crashes.

ITINERARY FOR THE EVENT

6:30 AM : Meet at Thamel near fire and ice (bike check while waiting for rider)

7:00 AM: Moving time

7:30 – 8:00 AM: Reach Nagarkot by shuttle

8:00 AM – 9:00 AM:  Briefing and Warmup

9:00 AM -12:00 PM: Main session

12:00 PM – 12:40 PM: Lunch 

1:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Start of next session

4:00 PM: End the session

5:00 PM : Drive back to Thamel 

what to bring during the session?

  • A well-tuned mountain bike. This is very important. Please swing by a bike shop and have a mechanic take a look just to make sure everything is tuned and running smoothly. For more info on the best bike to bring, see below.
  • Closed-toe shoes that are compatible with the pedals you’ll be using.  If you have questions about this please contact us before the riding session. It’s very important that your pedals and shoes work together when you arrive at the venue.
  • Check the weather prior to your lesson and pack accordingly. (raincoat, extra t-shirt, warm jacket compulsory) 
  • Helmet 
  • Cycling Gloves
  • Sunglasses
  • Mask
  • Padded cycling shorts (not mandatory).
  • Hydration Pack (or water bottles and a backpack) filled with lots of water for the day.
  • Snacks (energy bars). 
  • Sack lunch as you are participating for a full day.
  • Extra cash 
  • Sunscreen!
  • Mosquito spray!
